Three of my favorite massifs in the Dolomites appear all snuggled together in happy unison from this vantage point. Over the years I’ve spent countless outings experimenting with different locations from which I could photograph this grouping, and I came close to releasing one of those photos a couple of years ago. It never made it off of my hard drive, however, because I ultimately decided that it was missing…’something’. Finally, I had an opportunity that gave me that little extra ‘something’, which came from the combination of this vantage point and the particular play of light across the peaks that seems to bring out what I think is the special character of each one.
