Join Erin Babnik for an immersive photography workshop in one of the most unique landscapes in the world. Using the Furnace Creek area of Death Valley National Park as our base, we will explore the wealth of photogenic options for landscape photography that are available within reasonable striking distance from this area.
From rippled sand dunes to colorful badlands and otherworldly salt flats, we will have a variety of incredible opportunities for translating spectacular scenes of nature into compelling photographs. Erin will guide you through the entire process with dedicated instruction on all aspects of the art of landscape photography.

Your Camera. You can choose to use any camera you like, but a digital camera with full manual control and interchangeable lenses is highly recommended in order for you to have the best experience.
Lenses. There are opportunities to use any and all focal lengths, so bring a good range of them.
Tripod. A tripod is highly recommended!
Filters. Polarizing or neutral density filters can be very useful, but it is possible to get great results without them.
Other gear. Several batteries, plenty of memory cards, a remote trigger, lens cleaning supplies.
Clothing & shoes. Weather conditions can vary a lot this time of year. Bring insulating layers: good set of base layers, layers for warmth such as fleece and down. A shell jacket and hiking pants will help to protect against the elements as well. Hiking boots or shoes with good traction are advised, along with a warm hat and gloves.
Willingness to learn and discover.
Hiking on this workshop will be minimal. Most locations require a hike of up to one mile, but most are not far from a parking area. The most strenuous hiking will be on the sand dunes, which will involve at least 1.5 miles each direction over soft sand.
