Geodescent
Death Valley National Park, 2019
As the sun set behind this sandstorm, the entire area transformed from a chaotic array of textures to a scene of marvelous simplicity. I remember having some difficulty seeing through my sunglasses or through my camera’s viewfinder, but the camera’s LCD screen gave me enough detail to appreciate the scene’s giant waves of rim-lit sand and to compose a photograph that really speaks to me. I especially enjoy the hints of all four elements in this image: earth, wind, water, and fire are all suggested here.
